What is Dagenham Jamme Masjid about?
The Dagenham Jamme Masjid (Dagenham Islamic Welfare Association and Mosque/ DIWA) was established in 2004. It was the first Masjid in the Dagenham area.
The Masjid begun it’s journey with only 5 members from the local community. As time passed, the Muslim community grew bigger and bigger in the Dagenham area.
The Masjid used to hold one Jummah prayer, 5 daily prayers, Taraweeh prayers, and one Eid prayer. Due to the growing volume of worshippers attending the Masjid for Jummah (Friday Prayer), the services had to be increased to two, and since 2019 this has been increased to Three rounds of jumm’ah prayers. In one session, the Masjid can accommodate up to 300 worshippers.
On the days of Eid, the Masjid make arrangements for 7x Eid prayers. The first 6 prayers are for male and the last one is for female.
The Masjid also provides Arabic classes for children from the age of 5 to 16, Tuesday to Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and also on Saturday and Sunday’s 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The classes are taught by qualified male and female teachers.
Furthermore, the Masjid also provides free Quran classes for women every Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00.
The Masjid have been able to offer these services with the help of it’s Muslim community members, members of the public, and the worshippers (Musallis) attending the masjid.
May almighty Allah swt rewards each and every one for their help, support and kind donations. Aameen.
